Advantages and Usage of Soybean Milk Powder

  1. The saturated fats in cow's milk are unhealthy and increase your cholesterol. The protein in cow's milk has no benefits for the cholesterol. Soy protein can decrease cholesterol levels. The FDA (Food and Drug Administration of US) confirms that soy protein, as part of a diet low in saturated fat and cholesterol may significantly reduce the risk of coronary heart. The FDA recommends to incorporate 25 grams of soy protein in your daily meals.
  2. It’s a good source of potassium and can be fortified with vitamins A, B-12, and D, as well as calcium.
  3. The presence of isoflavones is the most important and unique benefit of soy milk powder. Each cup of soy milk contains about 20 mg isoflavones (mainly genistein and daidzein). Cow's milk powder does not contain isoflavones. Isoflavones have many health benefits.
  4. It contains as much protein as cow’s milk, yet is lower in calories than whole milk and about equal to the calories in 1 percent or 2 percent milk.
  5. It contains very little saturated fat.
  6. Soy milk powder is completely lump free and can be easily added to lot of formulations for Food, nutraceutical applications.
  7. Properly formulated Soy milk powder can replace Cow milk powder.
  8. Soy Milk powder is having long shelf life.

Process Description:

1 Soybean Dehulling Machine

Properly dried (moisture content ≤13% w/w) Soybean are fed to machine. The machine is a disc rotating machine with adjustable gap to achieve desired rate and attrition. Hulls are pneumatically conveyed to baghouse and collected at the bottom of the baghouse. Dehulled beans are pneumatically conveyed to soaking tanks.


2. Soaking Tanks

Complete stainless-steel tanks are provided as a soaking tank with necessary connection for water, vent, loading and unloading. Soaking is done for predetermined time in cold water.


3. Soybean Milling

Wet soaked soybeans are fed to grinding mill for obtaining predetermined particle size and further fed to another mill for reducing the particle size. Predetermined percentage of hot water is added during the milling operation to get the uniform milling and texture.


4. Soybean Milk Concentrator

The equipment is specifically designed for concentration of Soybean Milk depending upon the initial concentration from milling process and the rheological colloidal properties of the solution. It can be a multi-effect (MEE) effect evaporator plant depending upon the capacity. The evaporation time of soybean milk is totally controlled and is usually a few seconds or a few minutes, the evaporation temperature is low. At such a short time and low evaporation temperature, the composition and the quality of the senses of the product remains intact.

5. Feed Preparation:

White milk concentrated is further used as raw feed to Slurry / Emulsion Preparation section. This is a simple process which involves mixing of various ingredients in a proper proportion by auto weighing system. The large tanks with specially designed efficiently mixing and blending agitator arrangement are provided to mix the ingredients. The tanks are also provided with the heating arrangement so as to maintain proper temperature for producing right slurry formulation depending on the ingredients.
Formulation stage is completely product dependent. My not be required in case of plain milk production.


6. Homogenization

The feed is homogenized in a specially designed high-pressure homogenizer.


7. Spray Drying:

The feed is then dried to powder form in a spray dryer. The feed is atomized to fine droplets in a large spray chamber by using series of high-pressure nozzles. These atomized particles come in contact with hot air and water in it gets evaporated. The dried product is discharged at the bottom of chamber. The dried product entrained with the exhaust air is separated in a high efficiency cyclone separator. The exhaust air is further passed through a secondary cyclone separator for recovering the fines not separated in primary cyclone. Clean air is then vented to the atmosphere. The entire operation of the plant is monitored and controlled through a locally mounted control panel or through PLC as per customer choice.

8. Storage and Packing:

Product is cooled and in a pneumatic conveying system or Screw Cooler and then passed on to packing machine hopper, where it is continuously packed.
