Advantages and Usage of Sugarcane Juice Powder

  1. Spray Dried Sugar Cane Juice powder has long shelf life whereas raw sugar cane juice is highly perishable.
  2. The powder extracted from sugarcane retains the mineral content in almost the same way as it is present in sugarcane juice
  3. The use of spray dried sugarcane juice finds its application as a sweetener and for preparation of natural health drinks and beverages.
  4. The Sugarcane Juice powder contains vital minerals such as calcium, copper, magnesium, manganese, zinc, iron and potassium. It is a rich source of Vitamin A, B1, B2, B3 and C.
  5. Ayurvedic principles suggest that sugarcane juice powder beverage is an excellent liver detox, balancing bile levels and is often suggested as a jaundice remedy.
  6. Properly formulated Sugar Cane Juice powder can replace fresh beverage of Sugar Cane Juice.
  7. The Sugarcane contains 18-20% soluble solids and is reported to impart health benefits to the consumers. The juice, obtained on crushing the canes, with its delicate aroma is a popular beverage with the consumers. It can be an ideal
  8. replacement for Synthetically flavoured beverages/Soft drinks.
  9. Sugarcane Juice: Prevents DNA Damage, Strengthens Body Organs
  10. The presence of preserved antioxidants such as flavonoids and polyphenolic compounds boosts overall health and lowers oxidative stress from beverage made out of Sugar Cane Juice powder.

1 Sugarcane Leaves Removal Peeling and Chopping

The old or ripe Sugarcane is manually (can be automated) shredded with knife to remove leaves. The Peeling of the skin can be done manually or automated through small peeling machine.

2. Soaking of Sugarcane

Soaking the Sugarcanes in water containing 0.1% by wt. potassium meta bisulphite and 0.01% by wt. citric acid for 2-4 hours. This is very important step to deactivate the enzymes and pathogen on the sugar cane juice bites.

3. Sugarcane Juice Extraction and Filtration

Sugar Cane extraction machine is basically a screw press working on the principal of applying pressure on the cut pieces of the Sugarcane. We have single-screw and double-screw juice extractor for customers’ choice. The Extracted juice is transferred to filtration unit for filtering out any fibres of sizes more than desirable to remove.

4. Thermal Evaporator for Juice Concentration (Optional Step)

The plant is specifically designed for concentration of Sugarcane Juice at low temperature.
It is a single effect evaporator plant. Sugarcane Juice is received in a tank and pumped by the centrifugal pump into the preheater. Sugarcane Juice after preheater is introduced at the top of Calandria which works on falling film principle. As the Sugarcane Juice travels downward in the tubes it is heated by the heating medium (condensing vapours on the shell side). As the Sugarcane Juice gets heated it reaches saturation boiling temperature inside the tubes quickly and then both vapours and liquid travel down. Due to the expanded volume of vapours the liquid is pushed to walls and travels down as annular thin film along with the wall. Vapours enter the external vapour separator through tangential entry. The vapours move up and the droplets move down in the vapour separator. The liquid collected at the bottom is pumped out as a product. Live steam is introduced on shell side of calandria as heating medium. Part of these vapours are used by PH as heating medium.

5. Feed Preparation:

Concentrated Sugarcane Juice is further used as raw feed to Slurry / Emulsion Preparation section. This is a simple process which involves mixing of various ingredients in a proper proportion by auto weighing system. The large tanks with specially designed efficiently mixing and blending agitator arrangement are provided to mix the ingredients. The tanks are also provided with the heating arrangement so as to maintain proper temperature for producing right slurry formulation depending on the ingredients. The feed is homogenized in a specially designed high-pressure homogenizer.

6. Spray Drying:

The feed is then dried to powder form in a spray dryer. The feed is atomized to fine droplets in a large spray chamber by using either disc atomizer or series of high-pressure nozzles. These atomized particles come in contact with hot air and water in it gets evaporated. The dried product is discharged at the bottom of chamber. The dried product entrained with the exhaust air is separated in a high efficiency cyclone separator. The exhaust air is further passed through a secondary cyclone separator for recovering the fines not separated in primary cyclone. Clean air is then vented to the atmosphere. The entire operation of the plant is monitored and controlled through a locally mounted control panel or through PLC as per customer choice.

7. Storage and Packing:

Product is cooled and in a pneumatic conveying system or Screw Cooler and then passed on to packing machine hopper, where it is continuously packed.
